That Minivans are dumb and she needs a Volvo V60. She's tough, how can I win this?
![]() 12/30/2013 at 11:46 |

Push really hard for the minivan, effectively scare her away from it.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 11:46 |

Ask her what she likes about driving a minivan and prove the V60 can do it equally as good or better. Admit though, like buying any car over another, there will be compromises, but assure her that they're for the better.

Don't put down the minivan, just emphasize how the wagon is better

This is going to be a tough sell. Probably more expensive and less room. With all that said, you argument should simply be, "Because Volvo"
![]() 12/30/2013 at 11:50 |

Well actually Minivans are stupid expensive now. It's about the same price
![]() 12/30/2013 at 11:51 |

The problem is she likes the third row and massive cargo space

Wagons are always a tough sell. I'm currently trying to get my mom as well to get a wagon. Tell her the benefits such as better styling and fuel economy. Even though she may not care, tell her they drive better too and they are far more fun than a van. Good luck!

Focus on safety. Volvos are safe and everyone knows that, including non car people. Play that as much as you can. Test drive one she'll like how it drives compared to a minivan.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 11:55 |

My mom: "Oh but my Odyssey drives so much like a car!" yeah maybe like a prius, that's a car. Lol
![]() 12/30/2013 at 11:57 |

Does she even need a third row, do you have four kids in the family? Also, the v60 is a wagon, versatility and cargo space is its forte.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:01 |
|
Let her get the minivan, it's better than if she got a Tahoe, Yukon, Expedition, Sequioa or Armada.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:02 |

My mom drove a Suburban for 15 years because she didn't want to be a typical soccer mom.
Go with that. Pick someone she really hates and point out that she can be JUST LIKE MRS. SO-AND-SO!
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:05 |

TELL HER IT COMES IN BLUE.

Haha ya this isn't going to be an easy battle, my friend. Maybe get her to go out for a test drive? I let my mom drive my Outback and she really liked it. Now I'm trying to get her into an 05 Legacy wagon. A test drive may be what she needs!
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:08 |

We do use the third row sometimes, but that's only because my mom is always like "Oh we have a Minivan so we can fit everyone!" and insists taking one car. Also truthfully the Minivan has more space for stuff, but we only need the space maybe once a year. We could just flippin use a roof top cargo thing, that would do it, but my dad has some odd hate for those.

I'm thinking it's the only way
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:10 |

She wants White because safety. Which it does come in
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:11 |

We have an expedition too lol
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:12 |

I'm afraid that won't work with her.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:28 |
|
So...what's the minivan for then?
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:36 |

A wagon would be easier to get in and out of. Also since its lower loading things in the back would be less of a hassle. Those things would matter to my mom.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:42 |

Compromise
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:42 |

Id go with a Suburban honestly. V8. Comfortable, usable, punches minivans in the face. Also its has passenger heated seats! thats right, 1st AND 2nd rows!
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:43 |

All of those that you mentioned are much more appealing than a minivan in every way, shape, or form. (exception being the eddie bauer edition... no me gusta).
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:46 |
|
You sound like my dad. I dun want a suburbannnnn. If we can get a wagon too fine, but whatever
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:47 |
|
We almost never drive the expedition because my dad thinks it's unreliable
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:51 |
|
everything is unreliable when its parked.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:53 |

My only complaint with a 'burban is the price. You have to go used to make it worth the money cause 40K on a brand new one is craycray.
And youd love driving a suburban. It has mirrors the size of texas, an angry face to scare away prii, and holds 7 of your closest manly friends for a bbq on a mountain. Plus it feels like you are boarding a ship whenever you 'hop up' to the drivers seat.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 12:59 |
|
Well, we drive it enough. It has over 100k on it
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:00 |
|
But I hate that lol. I like driving tiny things
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:06 |
|
Its only your moms car, not your dd. same with me. I dd a small car too but i often end up driving hers from time to time and its rather refreshing.
You just havent caught the 'burban bug yet haha.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:07 |

Let her test drive one. If that doesn't convince her, I don't know what will.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:09 |
|
Well also we need to have better than 2 mpg lol
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:20 |
|
If it must be a van, then:
Late model? Odyssey.
Old and more used? Toyota.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:21 |

I don't like particularly big vehicles. I have a Grand Cherokee and it's about as big a vehicle as I'm willing to drive. I also spent plenty of time driving my mom's Chrysler Town & Country when I was a teenager and in college. They're useful. They're not as gigantic as full size SUVs. Which is why I'd rather have the minivan.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:24 |
|
So what you're saying is, your parents are idiots. At least when it comes to cars.
In my experience, once someone has made up their mind on the type of vehicle they want, it's very hard to convince them otherwise.
Your efforts would be wasted.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:27 |
|
lol, thats not nice. They get at leaaaast 5 mpg...
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:30 |
|
Lol a cherokee isnt even that big to be honest. But i guess i understand. I just have a personal vendetta against minivans.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:35 |
|
Yeah basically
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:35 |
|
We have an 05 Odyssey.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:41 |
|
Well if you're stuck with a van, that's the one to have. We recently sold our 10-year-old Odyssey and got a 10-year-old Mercedes E320 wagon. Still seats 7, still good for long trips, but now we can't simultaneously fit the family and the luggage. We'll get a roof box and all will be golden. My wife TOTALLY prefers driving the wagon to a van; she was never a fan of the high seating position, but your mom might be different.
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:43 |
|
Roof box, exactly. And that seats 7? How?
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:45 |

Rear-facing folding 3rd row seat:
![]() 12/30/2013 at 13:46 |

I figured. Awesome!

LOOK AT THIS VOLVO!
Look at ittttttttttttt.
